圆周率日

π day is annually celebrated on the 14th of March to celebrate the mathematical constant of pi (3.14). 

每年的3月14日是圆周率日,旨在庆祝数学常数π(3.14)。作为一项全球性的数学文化活动,圆周率日通过丰富多彩的互动体验,激发学生对数学的兴趣与热情,并加深其对数学概念的理解。

Primary students enthusiastically celebrated the magic of math during Pi Day, engaging in a diverse range of mathematical games and activities facilitated by our Math Lead and Chinese Math teachers. 

在这一天,学生们在学科负责人和数学教师的精心组织下,参与了一系列寓教于乐的数学活动。

Throughout the event, students explored concepts like circumference and area through hands-on challenges, fostering a deeper understanding of geometry. These interactive experiences not only made learning fun but also encouraged teamwork and critical thinking skills, allowing students to connect math to real-world applications creatively.


这些活动不仅涵盖了周长、面积等几何学核心概念,还通过动手实践的方式,培养了学生的团队合作能力、批判性思维以及将数学知识应用于实际问题的能力。


Countdown 

At Station 1, students played the well-known maths game ‘Countdown’. Given a target number and smaller integers, they worked in teams to combine these numbers using various operations to reach the target. This engaging activity fostered teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills while reinforcing their understanding of maths concepts.

具体而言,在第一站,学生们参与了经典的数学游戏“倒计时”。该游戏要求学生以小组为单位,利用给定的目标数字和若干较小整数,通过加减乘除等运算组合出目标值。这一过程有效锻炼了学生的逻辑推理能力和团队协作能力,同时巩固了他们对基本数学运算的理解。

Sudoku

At Station 2, students engaged their logical thinking skills by delving into the intricate rules of Sudoku. With enthusiasm, they collaborated in teams, racing against the clock to solve various puzzles, their minds whirling with strategies as they filled the grids.

在第二站,学生们挑战了复杂的数独谜题。通过分析规则并运用逻辑推理,学生们分组合作,快速解决各类难题。这一环节不仅提升了学生的专注力,还进一步强化了他们的逻辑思维能力。

Scavenger Hunt

At Station 3, students eagerly received their new ‘π Day’ names before embarking on an exciting π scavenger hunt. They tackled clever riddles in Pi-goeries, while creatively calculating the constant of pi by measuring various-sized circles, immersing themselves in the fascinating world of mathematics and engaging in delightful problem-solving activities.

在第三站,学生们获得了独特的“圆周率日”专属名字,并参与了一场别开生面的寻宝游戏。在“π迷宫”中,学生们通过解答巧妙设计的数学谜题,结合测量不同尺寸圆形的实际操作,创造性地计算圆周率。这一活动让学生充分体验到数学的魅力,感受到理论与实践相结合的乐趣。
