Grade 1

This week in Grade 1, students embraced their role as risk-takers by confidently engaging in a variety of activities for their Unit of Inquiry exhibition. They completed their habitats, boards, and experiments, and then took the bold step of presenting their work in front of the class, demonstrating both confidence and knowledge. Grade 2

This week in Grade 2, our students demonstrated what it means to be risk-takers as they completed their display boards and practiced for the upcoming exhibition. They worked incredibly hard, stepping out of their comfort zones to try new things and improve their presentations. Their dedication and willingness to embrace challenges have been truly inspiring.

Grade 3

In Grade 3, the students have been busily completing their final preparations for the upcoming Science Fair. Alongside assembling their display boards and exhibitions, they have made a remarkable effort to refine their written, balanced arguments on electricity. Their work includes a captivating introduction, compelling points for and against the topic, and a thoughtful conclusion. The excitement in the air is palpable as they look forward to being risk-takers and communicators in showcasing their hard work!

Grade 4

The students have taken risks over the past few weeks, bravely experimenting with new and innovative ideas that have brought their Unit of Inquiry and artistic projects to life for the science fair. They continue to demonstrate their courage as they present their ideas and what they have learned to all the visitors of Grade 4.

Grade 5

This week, Grade 5 students boldly showcased their adventurous spirit by presenting a vibrant array of experiments at the school exhibition, each one brimming with creativity and curiosity.

Grade 6A

The Grade 6A students have demonstrated themselves to be true risk-takers by identifying and acknowledging their areas for improvement in public speaking and actively working to enhance these skills. This effort has enabled them to confidently present their research and experiments at the school Science Fair.

Grade 6B

In Grade 6B, students embraced their role as risk-takers by confidently researching and presenting their science experiments at the end-of-unit science fair, focusing on the theme of Light. Music 

This week, students stepped out of their comfort zones to prepare for the exhibition. They experimented with new musical ideas, practised courageously, and embraced challenges with confidence. Their willingness to perform and share their work reflects their growth as independent, creative learners ready to take on new experiences.

ICT

This week in ICT, students from Grades 1 to 6 delved into Scratch Jr., Scratch Programming, and Micro:bit. They approached challenges with curiosity and resilience, learning to troubleshoot and refine their projects through trial and error. As they prepared for their science fair projects, these students were ready to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and determination.

Mandarin FL

This week, Grade 3 students embarked on a fascinating journey to explore ‘triboelectricity’. They independently selected materials and experimented with various combinations to investigate which pairings could effectively generate more static electricity. For instance, they rubbed objects such as plastic rulers, balloons, and sweaters against each other and then attempted to attract small pieces of paper. This challenging task aroused the students' adventurous spirit and interest for exploration, prompting them to discover the patterns and principles of friction-induced electricity in the experiment.

Grade 5 students explored the fascinating world of Chinese characters. They investigated idiomatic expressions, word puzzles, story riddles, and phonogram characters. Through group presentations, they bravely ventured into the unknown, uncovering the profoundness and fun of Chinese character culture.

本周,三年级的学生开启了一场关于“摩擦起电”的奇妙探索之旅。他们自主挑选实验材料,大胆尝试各种组合,以探究哪些材料搭配能够更高效地产生静电。例如,他们用塑料尺、气球、毛衣等物品相互摩擦,随后尝试吸附纸屑。这一充满未知与挑战的任务,极大地激发了学生们内心深处的冒险精神与探索欲望,促使他们在动手实践中逐步揭开摩擦起电的神秘面纱,发现其中蕴含的科学规律。

五年级的学生们开启了一场汉字文化的探索之旅。他们深入研究了歇后语、字谜、故事谜和形声字等内容。在小组汇报中,学生们勇敢地挑战自我,积极分享自己的发现。他们不仅体会到了汉字文化的博大精深和趣味性,更在探索中培养了大胆尝试、勇于探索的精神,为今后的学习奠定了坚实的基础。

Mandarin AL

Grade 5 and Grade 6 students discussed the "Storytelling King" competition. Students were encouraged to challenge themselves and participate in the storytelling contest. Grade 3 and Grade 4 explored the role of the spirit of adventure in sports.

本周五六年级学生讨论了“故事大王”的比赛,学生被鼓励挑战自我,参与到讲故事比赛中。三四年级学生探究冒险精神在运动中的作用。

Chinese Maths 

This week, Grade 1 students observed earthworms and uncovered that they prefer dark places. They measured the worms' lengths with rulers and solved a math problem related to it. 

The Grade 4 students learnt simple operations. They took the initiative to explore new methods and tried solving problems from different perspectives. For example, when calculating 25×32, instead of calculating in the regular order, they explored splitting 32 into 4×8, and then used the associative law of multiplication to calculate 25×4 first. When encountering complex simple operation problems, the students were all brave enough to take on the challenges and attempted different ideas for simple calculations. 

本周一年级学生通过观察蚯蚓,发现其喜欢黑暗环境。他们尝试用直尺测量蚯蚓的长度,设计一个数学问题并解决。在探索学习中,孩子们勇敢尝试,展现出无畏的探索精神。                                              

四年级在学习简便运算时,学生们主动探索新方法,尝试不同角度解题,例如计算25✖️32,不按顺序计算,探索将32拆成4✖️8,再利用乘法结合律先算25✖️4。在遇到复杂的简便运算题,学生们都勇于挑战,尝试不同的简便思路。

P.E.

In Lower Primary, students participated in small football and basketball tournaments during their unit assessment. During the tournaments, they were encouraged to apply the skills they had practised over the past few weeks. Embracing the spirit of the games, students expressed themselves creatively, shared their ideas, and took bold actions, demonstrating the qualities of confident risk-takers.

在低年级的学生们在单元评估期间参加了小型足球和篮球比赛。在比赛期间,他们学习运用过去几周练习的技能。学生们秉持着游戏精神,创造性地表达自己,分享自己的想法,大胆地采取行动,展示了自信的冒险者的品质。

Boarding 

This week, the PY boarding students showcased their ability to be risk-takers by engaging in multitasking activities. They effectively managed their tasks within set time, demonstrating strong time management skills. Additionally, they explored their limits by pushing boundaries in their daily routines. Overall, their willingness to embrace challenges highlights their growth and adaptability.

本周,小学部寄宿生通过参与多任务活动展示了他们承担风险的能力。他们在规定时间内有效地管理自己的任务时间,展现了强大的时间管理能力。此外,他们通过在自己的日常习惯中突破界限来探索自己的极限。总的来说,他们接受挑战的意愿突显了他们的成长和适应能力。
