Our School's Heart for Hong Kong

我校向香港献爱心

As a Hong Kong and Macao school, we were deeply saddened to hear about the devastating fire in Hong Kong. To express our sympathy and support, our staff, parents and students organised a collection to contribute to the relief efforts. This initiative reflects our commitment to compassion and global solidarity, values we hold dear in our education. Our thoughts are with all those affected.

作为一所港澳学校，我们听闻香港发生的这场毁灭性火灾深感悲痛。为了表达我们的同情和支持，我们的教职员工、家长和学生组织了一次募捐活动，为救援工作贡献力量。这一行动体现了我们对同情心和全球团结的重视，这些是我们教育中珍视的价值观。我们心系所有受影响的人。

Here at ASJ Dongguan, we strive to develop caring learners who take action to make a positive difference. Our framework encourages us to look beyond ourselves, to understand global issues, and to act with empathy and responsibility.

在东莞ASJ，我们致力于培养关爱他人、积极行动以创造积极影响的学习者。我们的理念鼓励我们超越自我，理解全球议题，并以同理心和责任感采取行动。

Recently, our entire school community was moved to put these principles into practice. The news of the tragic fire at Hong Kong's Tai Po Hung Fuk Court presented a real and meaningful context for this action. We are incredibly proud that our school was part of a much larger wave of support from our home city of Dongguan.

最近，我们整个学校深受触动，将这些原则付诸实践。香港大埔发生的火灾悲剧，为我们提供了一个真实而有意义的行动契机。我们无比自豪的是，我校也融入了我们所在城市——东莞这场大规模的爱心浪潮中。

As you may have seen, Dongguan—a city with deep historical and familial ties to Hong Kong—acted swiftly. Various organisations across the city launched a major relief effort. We are humbled to share that according to official reports, the total value of donations from all sectors in Dongguan reached an astounding RMB 51.33 million. 

正如您可能已看到的，东莞——这座与香港有着深厚历史和亲缘联系的城市——迅速行动起来。全市多个机构发起了大型赈灾援助。我们谨此分享，据官方报道，东莞社会各界捐款总额已高达5133万元人民币。

Where ASJ Fit Into This City-Wide Effort 

ASJ在这场全城行动中的角色

When the call for support went out, our ASJ community knew we had to help. This drive to take thoughtful, compassionate action is at the very heart of the PYP learner profile. Our teachers, staff, students, and families came together in a true spirit of care and solidarity. Through our own school-led initiative, we are proud to have contributed RMB 38,381.11 to the relief funds.

当赈灾的号召发出，ASJ社区深知我们必须伸出援手。这种深思熟虑、富有同情心的行动驱动力，正是PYP学习者培养目标的核心所在。我们的教师、员工、学生和家庭怀着真诚的关怀与团结精神汇聚力量。通过我校自主发起的倡议，我们自豪地为救灾款项贡献了38,381.11元人民币。

While our contribution is a small part of the immense total, it represents something huge: our shared value of empathy and our commitment to standing with our neighbours in times of need. We saw students donating their pocket money, teachers giving generously, and families coming together to support the cause. It was a powerful, real-life demonstration of the PYP attitudes of empathy and commitment.

尽管我们的捐助在庞大的总额中只是微小的一部分，但它代表了至关重要的价值：我们共同秉持的同理心，以及我们在危难时刻与邻里并肩同行的承诺。我们目睹了学生们捐出零花钱，教师们慷慨解囊，家庭们合力支持这项事业。这是PYP所倡导的同理心和奉献精神一次有力而生动的真实展现。

A Lesson in Unity and Kinship

This city-wide response, from major corporations to individual citizens, teaches us an important lesson. It shows us what is possible when a community unites with a common purpose. It reflects the profound meaning of the Chinese saying, “一方有难，八方支援” (When one place is in trouble, aid comes from all sides), and connects directly to our PYP explorations of how communities function and support one another.

从大型企业到普通市民，这场全城响应给我们上了重要的一课。它向我们展示了一个社区为共同目标团结起来时所能实现的力量。这深刻体现了“一方有难，八方支援”的内涵，并与我们PYP课程中关于社区如何运作、如何相互支持的探索直接相连。

We are inspired by the generosity shown by Dongguan's businesses, associations, and people. It reminds us that we are all connected. The swift action demonstrates the unbreakable bond between Dongguan and Hong Kong, a bond built on shared culture and kinship. 

东莞各界企业、协会和民众所展现的慷慨令我们深受鼓舞。它提醒我们，彼此紧密相连。迅速的行动彰显了东莞与香港之间牢不可破的纽带，这条纽带建立在共同的文化和亲情之上。

To the people of Hong Kong, and especially to those affected by the fire in Tai Po, our entire ASJ Dongguan community holds you in our thoughts. We send our deepest wishes for strength, recovery, and peace.

致香港市民，特别是大埔火灾的受影响者，ASJ东莞全体社区心系你们。我们致以最深切的祝愿，愿你们坚强、早日恢复安宁。

Let’s continue to nurture this spirit of kindness, this drive to be principled and caring global citizens, within our own school walls and carry it out into the world.
